UNOFFICIAL PLAYER COMPANION GO BEYOND THE OBVIOUSINDEPENDENT & FAN-MADE
HOW TO PLAY

Read carefully. Think specifically.

A practical guide to the original daily game, with a little help for your next dive.

The daily format

Play at krillion.io ↗. Each daily dive has seven prompts shared by players. There is a short prompt preview, followed by a 25-second window to submit one answer for the round. The game checks the answer and assigns its result.

Read every restriction before typing. A prompt might specify a spelling pattern, a location, a numerical threshold, or a particular category. An unusual answer still needs to fit the question.

What a score means

Individual accepted answers fall into six tiers: Plankton (10), Too Clever (15), Schooler (30), Rare (60), Deep Cut (85), and One in a Krillion (100). A missed round adds zero. Add the seven round results to find the total.

The seven-round theoretical maximum is 700. A particular answer sheet can have a lower recorded ceiling when a prompt has no 100-point answer. The hints page reports that day’s recorded ceiling separately.

Rare is more than today’s popularity

The official FAQ describes familiarity data and editorial curation. The special gem also considers how satisfying an answer is to find. Avoid treating an answer’s recorded score as a live vote count or a promise about another prompt.

Use clues without giving up the answer

  1. Read the official prompt on our daily hints page.
  2. Open the first clue. Try a candidate before revealing the next.
  3. Open further clues only if needed. Each clue set points toward one recorded example.
  4. Use the separate answer reveal only when you want to see that example and its dated score.
  5. Mark a question solved to keep your own progress. This marker does not validate an answer.

When the next dive arrives

The official game’s date follows America/New_York. Midnight there is 04:00 UTC in daylight saving time and 05:00 UTC in standard time. Our hints page uses the reset time supplied with the official puzzle, rather than the date on your device.

A source can be delayed. Always read the displayed puzzle date. “Latest verified” means we have not confirmed the new day yet.

If an answer is missing

Use the original game as the authority on acceptance. Its curated lists can omit a plausible answer. Our examples show what a particular public sheet recorded; this site does not submit answers or change game results.

For the official explanation, read the Krillion FAQ ↗. Our source notes explain how this guide and the daily records are checked.
